How do I sing in breathlessness
yet hear sounds of my whispering words?
How is it that my soul is empty
yet was able to give to the thirsty at heart?

By no ways but the grace of God.

How is it can strength be found
by the mortal and frail and shaken feet?
How is it can courage be drawn
by the beggar and lame without help?

By no ways but the grace of God.

How does a man conquer death
and see morrow's dawn fresh and anew?
How does a woman pray and fast
and remain vigilant in her every task?

Aye, by no ways but the grace of God.
